An Epic 10 Day Whisky Tour
Just finished a wonderful tour with my new friends Ed and Dan from Wisconsin. The tour was delayed by 18 months for medical reasons but it was certainly worth waiting for. We covered 4 of the main whisky regions, Campbeltown, Islay, Highlands and Speyside and managed a new record (for me) of 31 distilleries visited in 10 days. A great effort by Ed and Dan and I think they found some new favourites. Particular highlights were Bowmore (visited 3 times), Bunnahabhain, Balvenie (of course), Glendronach and our final visit Tullibardine. In hindsight the breakfast dram at Laphroaig wasn’t the best idea! There were a couple of slower days where many miles were covered but the boys finished the tour strongly and even managed a very successful stop at our friends Robertsons of Pitlochry whisky shop on the last day where some purchases were made for shipping. I left the chaps in Edinburgh where they enjoyed 2 final days. This tour will stay long in all our memories and don’t forget there are still a few distilleries for you to visit next time! Slainte!
